Annotation: In 2006 a beekeeper discovers all of his bees in the hive have disappeared.  Soon other beekeepers were reporting the same mystery.  Bee scientists are called to solve the lost bee mystery.
Personal Reaction: Even though this book with its close up bee pictures gave me the willies, I found myself drawn into the mystery and wanting to know if the problem has been solved.  This would be a terrific story for science classes to learn how scientists solve these mysteries but also for the abundant and detailed facts about bees.  The appendices at the end demonstrate honey extraction, more bee facts and a glossary.
Illustration: The full color close up photography is fascinating.  It illuminates the narrative and young readers will be fascinated by the up close and personal pictures of bees and more bees.
Use of Media:  Full color photographs provide clear detail of the bee life.
