Annotation: The primary colors of every season of the year are melded into this book length poem.  Each color is given life by the activities that occur during the season. “Yellow slips goldfinches their spring jackets."
Personal Reaction:  This colorful book will make me look at the colors of spring entirely differently and with a new appreciation for the true sense of nature.  The illustrations follow the rhythm of the poem throughout and the reader sees the true nature of each color.
Illustration:  This brightly colored book practically sings the words of the poem.
For example “In spring, Yellow and Purple hold hands.  They beam at each other with bright velvet faces.  First flowers, first friends.”  On this page the person is picking jonquils and at the bottom of the page there is a border of little purple and yellow violets.
Use of Media:  A combination of drawings with acrylic and colored pencil
Use of literary device: Personification is used throughout the poem.  “Black holds secrets in summer.”
