Annotation: The little leaf is afraid to let go and drop to the ground until he spots another leaf and together they drop their fear and themselves.
Personal Reaction:  This is a great story about fear of the unknown and learning to take that giant step and friendship.  This would be a good book to explore different types of art and expressing feelings in artwork.  It could also be used   for discussing social and emotional issues.  Remedial and ESL teachers would also find this title a good addition to their classrooms.
Illustration:  The use of subtle colors and simple drawings mixed with collage art works for this simple tale.  The illustrations help to convey the various emotions in the narrative.  For example, when it is winter and the little leaf is still clinging the picture depicts the tree trunk and only the heavy hanging leaf and the text says “Days passed by and still The Little Yellow Leaf held tight.  Alone.”
Use of Media: The use of drawing, collage, lined papers and graphs create an unusually illustrated book for all readers.
